February/March 2010 Updates
Listen Page Changes
The Listen page will see numerous small changes, mostly in content presentation, not so much in look. The audio players will be getting a new makeover thanks to feedback from listeners over the last year. The only reason it has taken so long is due to the size of the project, which requires a lot of flash coding on my part and the possible move to Silverlight keeping me from starting on it. I have finally decided that the current functionality of my players can be migrated to a new and easier interface which also offers a more aesthetic look and feel in its operation. I try to make every aspect of the site match the mode and artistic direction of my work and the mp3 players definitely haven’t ever fit that mold.
I hope to have the design finished NLT the first two weeks of March and depending on whether or not I decide to outsource the coding, the actual players could be on the site by late April/early May due to my work schedule.
Online Store Opening
The online store should be ready by July depending on how well I can reverse engineer the CSS of my e-commerce engine. I have decided to employ some very easy to understand tools from MacRabbit and Panic to get that job done. The store has numerous benefits over the way I do things now:
- MP3′s and other digital products will be linked to your account and available for a pre-set period.
- My custom DAW solutions area for pro-audio enthusiasts will be very easily realized and implemented. This is by far the biggest plus of the new engine. For those of you who like to do comparable shopping and hate being limited to only a few options, I will offer numerous builds sized around three pricing models.
- Everything is still secured through Paypal and a few other online payment gateways – none of your financial information is with me, and all your transactions are secured with some of the best e-commerce encryption systems available on the net.
- Shipping options are all real-time and incorporated with FedEx, USPS, and UPS. My main goal was to offer more options for the various products I will be offering.
With all that in mind, the store will inevitably be a great new investment to the site.
Personal Releases
As said before, Aphotic Transmissions will be the last personal album I release this year. The site demands a more advanced compositional repertoire, and my focus will be on that throughout the year. As well as finishing up the last few things for the Watch Page, which has been neglected for almost a year now. The presentation of the listen page will change to reflect what my original intentions were for creating that page. While most believe that these personal albums are just that, they actually were intended to be like suites covering various genres and themes applicable to my services. I may have strayed a few times, especially with Black and A.T., but for the most part they were created with that goal in mind. So my next step will be to get that out there and understood to my visitors and potential clients.
Possible site downtime
I may have to take the site down for a while for upgrades back here at home base later int he year. I will be upgrading my web authoring software and making the site more dynamically connected. The graphic design was created by an excellent designer in Germany, but the data and co-dependence on data still has some potential realization to be made. More specifically on the listener page – the center of this year’s effort.
