December is the month for Basic

Due to time constraints and the other inevitable time losses for personal demo production, I have put the Basic player back up with the original tracked demos. The release date has been pushed back to December and the finished tracks will make their way back on the listen page at that time.

Tracklists Locked on Basic and Black

Well, I have finally compiled the 15 tracks for each album and so now I begin the final tracking and editing of each track, followed by the mix and master. I have yet to decide how the CD will be structured, but the tracks on the listener page will change from alphabetically displayed to displayed by track number as Logos and The Darkness were. It has been a creative run working on these two pieces, especially Black with all the brand new songs I wrote for it. As of now November looks like a reliable estimation, possibly even prior to November depending on time and funding.

Two New Tracks on Basic

I have added one brand new track called “Twin Peaks” to Basic. It’s a Hindu-techno piece with a very fast paced ethnic rhythm, similar in style to works of Juno Reactor. The other new track is actually a remake of an older, unreleased song called “Power”. These two songs are the final pieces to make their way onto Basic. From here until November, I will be working on Black and Basic – finishing up songs that weren’t tracked fully and mixing them all for their final release.

Inside an Eclipse on Basic

I uploaded an early demo of “Inside an Eclipse”. It’s a very smooth, ambient-chillout meets new age piece that you can just zone out to. With only two more songs to go, Basic is almost ready for final production.

A word on Basic and Black

My two new and exciting projects are just around the corner. I estimate that both will be completed by November of this year and ready to be distributed here on the site as well as in most of the major online stores such as iTunes and Rhapsody. This has been an exciting year and I am glad to be moving on to these two albums. Black’s track list only has one minor change: Vanity by Design will be taken off the track list and Eraser moved on. Eraser still needs heavy work since it was written in early 2008, in a time when I was desperately learning how to mix and arrange intense instrumental-electronic music. It will make a very nice addition to the line-up.

After next week I will begin work on Black, tidying up the mixes and re-arranging some parts etc. etc. I suspect it won’t take long to finish the album. Most likely it will be 100% by early September. Basic is no different, but it will take slightly longer due to the fact that many of the tracks on there are quite old and haven’t been touched since as far back as 2007! So you can imagine where I was with the technology back then. Don’t get me wrong, the musical aspect is always the same, but the technology leaps I made during 2007 required an intense learning block of time. I feel very comfortable with my equipment (software) now and could most likely have it done in September as well, if not trailing Black by only a few weeks.

These two albums carry with them a huge leap from the atmosphere of The Darkness. While both albums focus on similar aspects of the same, or variant, ideas as that of The Darkness. Both offer something very unique and creative to my experimental nature. I am only constrained by time with these two projects; Creativity is bursting and new ideas come everyday. I play my newer albums in my car all the time and find myself adding all kinds of extra choruses and counter melodies etc. With the knowledge I gained from using my newer CD authoring software, the finishing parts have become a lot less of a hassle in comparison with my first two CD’s. With all that in mind I just wanted to say that the next few months will be very exciting.

Logos Weekend Work

I just wanted to throw in a quick update while I’m on here. I should have some time this weekend to work on the remaining Logos tracks. I hate not having them out for listeners – Logos is one my favorite releases. The vocal parts are the only thing holding me up currently. There were lots of issues with the bass frequencies on the acoustic Mexican guitar samples, so I have been steadily working to evolve each mix and bring the most out of them I can. I want this album to convey the same beautiful imagery that it was meant to when I was writing it. After I finish with Logos, I will be moving on to finally mix the tracks on Black and Basic. Both albums should be available by November-December 09. After all is said and done this year, I might have some serious time to revisit Walking with Myths and False Sun (Eighth Sphere). Only time and work will tell.

Watch Me Wide Open – Basic Addition

I added a new track to Basic called “Watch Me Wide Open”. I was originally debating as to whether I should put this on Black as the opening track, but I think its ambient chill-out feel coupled with its swing like sub rhythm makes it very suitable for Basic. It takes a while to ramp up into it, but when it does it just opens up into a wondrous flow. I would love to hear comments on it.

Basic Player on the Listener Page

I put a new player up on the listener page for the upcoming Basic compilation. Much of the songs are Unreleased tracks that shine in the drum and bass department and display that intimate flow of my odd ideas. I will be working on more tracks in the next few months, but for now this should be a nice start to give you an idea of what the album will be like. I also included the new, “I Belong to Ennoia” track on there as well. Enjoy and don’t forget to let me know what you think.

Introducing Basic

Some of you may have seen the title on the listener page, and I mentioned this album a while back in an earlier blog entry. I thought now would be a good time to introduce my upcoming release: “Basic”

Basic Album Cover

The album is comprised of some low-key drum n bass sounds similar to IDM, but more melodic and sporting richer harmonies. It will be released later this year, possibly even before Black. I will update the listener page to accommodate the track list, but I am focusing on preparing other online projects ATM – but don’t worry, it will be up soon. The album art is only a rough draft and most likely will change, as Black’s did, in a few months.
