The Darkness Ready to go!
I uploaded the FINISHED(!!!) Darkness tracks today. Each track has been remixed and in some cases completely re-arranged. The Darkness will be available as both a tangible and digital product starting June 1st. You can also pick and choose tracks individually as 320 kb MP3 files if you only want a few. Logos will be completely finished next weekend and I expect it to be ready for distribution by June 5th.

The Darkness Revamped
While the store has been down, I took time to once again do some alterations on The Darkness. Some of the songs have been remixed to the point they are completely new. There were a few tracks that just “didn’t work” when it came to mixing them down for CD, so I have been doing some rearranging and filler comps on them to make up for the parts I am having to cut. I had to face facts on this one – it was my first CD and I let my artistic side tell me something the sound wasn’t.
It will be available with Logos (which I haven’t changed much LOL) when the store is opened on June 1st. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the album now as it stands, I will post the new MP3 tracks to the listen page when June comes around.

The Darkness – Final cut mixes available to listen to!
I uploaded the final masters to the listener page today! The Darkness is officially done and I am very happy with the outcome. The mixes are much more spacious; here’s a few of the major changes:
- All piano parts were re-recorded using a Steingraeber instead of the Concert D Grand. This makes the songs more intimate and low-key and also frees up more room in the mixes for the multitude of other synths and ethnic instruments.
- Noumenon was completely re-arranged using the original ethnic instruments I had planned for and the atmosphere has grown because of them. The vocal parts were also redone to fit better in the mix.
- Pillow had it’s rhythm parts changed around, as well as the addition of the Steingraeber, to give the bass track more breadth and thump. The old drums were a little “poppy” and not so warm.
- Drowning in Darkness has a lot of the drums re-arranged and the bass and synth-vocal parts were mixed to give the piece more space.
These are just a few of the changes. Take a listen and see how the new arrangements work, and be ready – The Darkness ships on April 01, 2009!

The Darkness rexamined
I have come up with plenty of new and exciting approaches to take for the album before releasing it in April. The mixes need some work, but the arrangements will be less interfering and much more interwoven. I will be pulling out some Omnisphere and EW stuff for most of the ideas. Many of the simple and morbidly plain piano lines will be “ethnically” recreated and mixed. Noumenon has some promise with the new arrangements and a few other tracks needed a brush over as well. I haven’t had many opportunities to work on the album like I intended because of work related drawbacks – little did I know that March would be such a busy and stressful month. It’s no matter though, I should have everything up and ready by the original timeline. The new demos will be on the site the week of release.
