In Obscurity

As Logos winds down, the last two tracks fall into an abstract electronic pitfall (metaphorically speaking). This intentional turn from the acoustic minimalism of the other tracks back into something more reminiscent of The Darkness was done to show how the music, no matter if played solo under a tree by a lone man beside the river on his guitar, or by the DJ in a club  booth, is key to a language of emotion. I listen to a wide variety of music from pop to underground and I have been inspired by many great artists. If I've taken anything from this ongoing listening experience, it is that a great song can transcend the ordinary and speak volumes about the Human mind.

In Obscurity was another title that originally had lyrics that didn't make it to the final cut. I decided against making it too abstract and depressing and stuck with keeping it as an instrumental. The song plays around very simple melodies with an array of discordant pad overtones that just shoot it into the heavens. It is like a build up and release cycle, a pulsing emanation. The lyrics, of course, added an entirely alternate direction for the work which tended to paint a depressive quest for a beautiful nihilism - stillness of the soul.

As with many songs of mine that sound beautiful, they almost always have a negative connotation. This song was no different. It is through the power of deduction that I, from my grief experience of witnessing the beautiful from behind black curtains, can truly come to know and experience the other side in all it's brilliance. It is symbiotic to my experience, no matter how my ego has clouded it. Beauty can shine in the dark, but it is often seen as something that is apart from the one who sees it. Something removed from my life and therefore unattainable, although I know it and feel it as if I had it - in my own ideal world.
