Guided into the Nothing
"Guided into the Nothing" is a very simple and progressive piano piece with emphasis on ethereal atmosphere and movement rather than complicated or intricate arrangements. It carries a sad and solemn vibe that invites the listener to travel into this so-called "nothing" and experience within them self the dreary solitude of a wanderer in search of something. It pulls my ideals of life into a very simple set of melodic movements. However, this simplicity should not be equated with simplicity as it is known by most. The Darkness is an album laced with mystery and loads of esoteric thought inspired by philosophers from the past. There is no song on this album that doesn't have a double meaning and I intended for "Guided into the Nothing" to be a gateway into the more esoteric, or hidden, treasures of the album. It is in the end of the album where I paint my most abstract and challenging interpretations of occultism for the every-day music listener to ponder upon...consciously or not.
There is possibly no one else under the sun who strives so much to connect with the fathomless as I do. Intense epiphanies led to vague and abstract passages of melody and harmony. "Guided into the Nothing" set the way for the more archaic notions of existence as expressed in "Signal Fire: From the Outside", "Somewhere Outside" and "Waiting." One who sees the music of the spheres as a spiritual experience will appreciate the work I have attempted to materialize in this song.
